I am a big fan of open-ended toys: toys that can be interacted with in a myriad of ways. There is no ending to the play-possibilities that come with building blocks – children can make Roman forts, towering skyscrapers, they can transform the blocks in to a drum set or use them to talk about shapes, numbers, and even the alphabet.
The timber used to make these building blocks comes from sustainable forestry in Germany, and only colour their wood using water-based stains or solvent-free paints. HABA go through impressive lengths to maintain their eco-footprint, which is why I stand by this brand whole-heartedly. I encourage you to read more about their materials on the HABA site.
